Project where we had to decorate something by taking away clay rather than adding it...

Image
For this project, we had to decorate something by taking away clay rather than adding it. I decided to make a small pot for a plant for this project, which I plan on sending to my grandmother in Germany who loves plants! I carved a plant into this pot and used a crystal glaze. I'm very happy with how it turned out!

Place Setting

For my place setting, I plan on making my theme either very nature-based or very black and silver or gold based.

Set of Four

Image
For my set of four, I plan on making a set of small space-themed sculptures and incorporating wire and air-plants into them later on. Final edit- Three out of four of my sculptures ended up getting scrapped. However, I was able to glaze and fire one.

Bust Sculpture

Image
For this sculpture, we were told to create a human bust. I was very happy with mine until I dropped it as it was nearly finished.... I then decided that I would carve half of the head into a skull to make it more interesting, as well as likely keep the idea of adding wire glasses when it is glazed and fired. Final edit- I think that the glaze could have turned out better on this project, but I am happy with it overall.

Extra

Image
Having enjoyed sculpting the bust i made for the previous project, I decided to make a surreal-esq kind of cut off head just for fun.

Animal or Human Sculpture

Image
For this project, we were told to sculpt either an animal or a human. I chose to do a bust of a man.

Master Artist

Image
The prompt for this project was to take art from a master artist and turn it into a sculpture using clay. I decided to do this with the master artist Andy Warhol, the man who practically invented what we call 'pop art' today. He would use silkscreen painting to copy photos of celebrities and well-known objects (without permission) and create a colourful colour-block painting version of them.
